The Field Round is the original form of field archery for which the Lower Arroyo range was built — and it remains the centerpiece of our Sunday Shoots.

Each Field Round includes 28 targets (or 14 targets shot twice), set at marked distances with a variety of shooting styles. Archers shoot four arrows per target, totaling 112 arrows for a full round. Scoring is based on where the arrow lands:

  • 5 points: center black ring
  • 4 points: white ring
  • 3 points: outer black ring

Shooting Formats

  • Standard – All arrows shot from a single distance
  • Walk-Up – Each arrow shot from progressively closer markers
  • Fan – Arrows shot from multiple side-by-side positions
  • Birdie – Close-range targets with vertically stacked faces (one arrow per face)

Short-Distance Targets (under 30 yards): Feature four small faces in a square. Archers pick a target face on the first station and keep it for the first 14 targets. Positions rotate for the second half.

Distance Markers by Age Group

  • Adult (18+): White markers
  • Young Adult (15–17): White markers
  • Youth (12–14): White up to 50 yards; Blue for longer shots
  • Cub (under 12): Black markers
